Easter Basket Ideas

If you're like me, with Easter fast approaching, you begin to try to rack your brain for what you can put in your kids' Easter baskets that's a little different from the norm of toys that they already have or may actually be something that they need. This year, I thought I'd show you what the Easter Bunny is bringing my two girls, and I hope that it might give you a few ideas of your own!

THE BASICS

Every good Easter Bunny knows that you need a good basket, eggs, and grass for your eggs.  I found our felt Easter baskets last year at Homegoods and we reuse them every year, but I love this burlap basket below with a painted bunny and fluffy cotton tail!  It also comes in pink, so you've got an option for both boys and girls.  As for the eggs, I personally love pastels, so that's what we use, and instead of your typical green plastic grass, I love to use the white  crinkle cut paper shred that also comes in a variety of other colors!

CANDY

Of course your Easter basket MUST have candy, and this year our Easter bunny has chosen to give the girls rock candy because this treat is just so pretty in cotton candy blue!  He also loves to leave a trail of jelly beans (we love the Starburst variety) from their rooms to the baskets, and the eggs are stuffed with jelly beans and Hershey's wrapped chocolate eggs!

TOYS

Toys can sometimes be tough because if your kids are like mine, it seems like the grandparents have already thought of every single toy they could possibly have!  This year, I decided that our oldest, Allie, would probably absolutely love her own real porcelain tea set, and I found a pretty little set I know she'll love at Homegoods by Grace Teaware in pink and gold lace.  Their Alice Garden set below is pretty adorable too!

For our youngest, Lily, I found a sweet little stuffed bunny with a rattle and crinkle ears that she's sure to love, and I picked up a pack of hair chalk for Allie that I know she'll have lots of fun with (hopefully Mom won't regret this one)!

BOOKS

One thing that our Easter bunny loves to get each year are books. This year Allie is getting "The Velveteen Rabbit" by Margery Williams Bianco and Lily is getting "Fuzzy Yellow Ducklings" by Matthew Van Fleet and "Princess Baby" by Karen Katz.

NECESSITIES

As I mentioned, sometimes its good to get your kids something they actually need in their Easter basket instead of toys, whether its a pair of shoes or clothes.  This year, Lily is getting a set of Bamboo dinnerware that's in a super cute unicorn design.  The one below with baby birds by Berriwinkle is pretty cute too!

DECOR

This year, I picked up a little extra Easter decor to make it a little more special for my girls.  I found a super cute felt Easter garland from Homegoods that goes perfectly with their Easter baskets and added Nandina in with it to give it a bit more whimsy and more of a nod to spring and nature.  Our Easter bunny loves to leave their baskets on the stairs, so the garland will be perfect here as an added surprise when they come down the stairs Easter morning! The burlap garland with bunnies below goes perfectly with the baskets I mentioned above!

That's about it! I hope these tips help you with your Easter baskets this year, and I wish you all a very Happy Easter!  Remember the reason for the season - He has risen!

"He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee. ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” - Luke 24:6-7
